St. Jodern, located in the heart of the Upper Valais, is the ideal starting point for discovering and experiencing the region around Visp. We have put together a brief overview of activities for summer and winter.
The following activities are available in summer:
Biking
Wonderful single trails offer a great biking experience. They present themselves long, short, flowing, challenging and natural. Enjoy your biking vacations or a few biking days and discover every day one of the many treasures of the Upper Valais. Our house has a lockable bike cellar with bike washing area and a small selection of tools.
Hiking
There are countless hikes to discover here in the Valais. Whether it be romantic, adventurous, educational or sporty for every mood there is a suitable hike. Marvel at the beauty of our nature and enjoy the peace and quiet along the Valais hiking trails and suonen. With a lunch päkli prepared by us for CHF 15.00 you can refresh yourself on the routes. If you are a guest who likes to go on a guided tour: the Heidadorf Visperterminen organizes guided hiking and mountain tours in summer. Enclosed is an overview of the tours offered. Mountaineering and sport climbing
41 of the 48 4000m mountains in Switzerland are on Valais soil, 22 of them completely. Visp is a perfect excursion for your mountain tours, both of the Valais Alps in the south and those of the Bernese Alps in the north.
Also for sport climbing the Upper Valais is an excellent address and you can reach about 1000 sport climbing routes from Visp in less than 1 hour.
As a bad weather program, the bouldering hall Vertic Halle in Baltschieder is suitable.
Swimming
You can enjoy cooling off and a relaxing day of swimming in the Mühleye swimming pool in Visp, Brigerbad or in the Geschina in Brig. In both swimming pools you will find a 50m swimming pool, a non-swimmer area as well as a 1- and 3m diving area. There is also a volleyball court. You can also relax and enjoy the sun rays in the thermal spring pool of Brigerbad.
World Nature Museum
Immerse yourself with all your senses in the exciting and varied world of the Alps. Get an overview of the whole region with this interactive exhibition and learn more about the history, natural and cultural landscape. An experience evoked by: exciting films, interactive experience stations, info-graphics and artifacts
The gold mines of Zwischbergen
Discover the gold mines of Zwischenbergen and feel like a gold digger in search of his great fortune. The walk through the long tunnel is impressive; what was accomplished here by the gold miners. At the latest during the gold panning, every participant falls a little bit into the gold fever.
Other activities such as trail running, tobogganing, golf, mini-golf, visits to the zoo and museums are possible in the Upper Valais.
